Cross River Govt impounded 3 trucks with over 40 transformers

The Cross River State Government has impounded three lorries loaded with over 40 distribution transformers of various capacities.

The transformers 500kva; 33/ 0.415kv, 500kva; 11/0.415kv, 300kva and 200kva were intercepted by the government team led by Engr. Emmanuel Eneji Nkpeh, Senior Special Adviser on Power to the Governor of Cross River State with the prompt support of the State Security Adviser (South) Ani Esin.

The acclaimed owner was said to have purchased them from Leliker Brothers, a leading partner with Cross River state government on Power projects.

A company that is known in Cross River State for its street light installations and maintenance.

While speaking, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Power said: "We are not opposed to the sales of Leliker Brothers' power asset to any buyer but as a State, we are primarily concerned with the stake of Cross River State Government in the initial importation of these volumes of transformers."

"Our passionate appeal to Leliker Brothers is to grant us access to the importation document of these distribution transformers with the view to ascertaining the ownership".

"My suspicion is simple, these transformers were probably procured to be used for Power projects in Cross River state."

"As I speak, the three trucks are under the custody of NSCDC on the instructions of the Senior Special Adviser on Power to the Governor of Cross River state and the State Security Adviser (South)." He said

There are feelers that, the transformers are part of Government's procured power equipment that was being moved without the knowledge of Cross river state govt.
