Covid19: Nigeria Chief of Staff and President Buhari right-hand man, Abba Kyari dies

Chief of Staff of Nigeria, and President Buhari right-hand man Mallam Abba Kyari, died on Friday 17 April 2020 after contracting Covid 19 Coronavirus during one of his official trip to Germany in mid-March.
The Presidency confirmed his death through Mr Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Buhari, who shared the sad news via his verified Twitter account. Femi said "Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, passes on. May God rest his soul, Amen. Funeral arrangements to be announced soon."

Mallam Kyari, who was in his late 60’s, died in his isolation ward in one of the best private hospital in Ikoyi Lagos state, according to reports he had an underlying illness, which placed him at higher risk of the deadly Covid 19 Coronavirus which has infected 493 people so far and has killed a total of 17 people across Nigeria.

The Late chief of staff was a high profile politician, who kept a low profile, he was not one of those noise making politicians, Kyari was Nigeria's 3rd most powerful man, no one can get to the president without passing through him, he was president Buhari trusted friend and right-hand man. Mallam Kyari had a legal training in  English law and worked as a journalist, was former CEO of UBA Bank before he was appointed chief of staff to President Buhari in 2015.
