President Buhari has grant presidential pardon to the former governor of old Bendel state late professor Ambrose Alli and former nationalist, late Chief Anthony Enahoro and 3 others.
Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola announced the development on Thursday in a briefing in Abuja along with Minister of Justice and the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of information Nigeria, Lai Mohammed, according to the Minister of interior the federal government has grant amnesty to no fewer than 2,600 inmates as part of measures to decongest prison facilities in the country amid the covid 19 coronavirus pandemic, he added that the presidential pardon followed the recommendation to the president by the presidential committee after taking the pandemic into consideration.
The pardon does not extend to inmates with grave offences, especially those sentence for extreme violence such as murder, terrorism, kidnapping, homicide human trafficking, arm robbery, rape etc.
